Director's Note

Twelve years later, 2030 comes shortly. But the social condition sometimes changes dramatically. There is no guarantee that the situation of the current world abroad will not be what we will face, and we have to find out how we can live while being suffered from the actual society. The world will become fluidized and exiles, refugees and people who lose their hearts might increase. The viewpoint to look at the world as well as Japan is needed now. I would like to find out where hope would be.-Hiroshi Koike

What is Super Theater Hiroshi Koike Bridge Project?

In May 2012, Hiroshi Koike put an end to the 30-year history of the Performing Arts Company Papa TARAHUMARA, and in June of the same year Hiroshi Koike Bridge Project(HKBP) was established. While creating a bridge connecting people, culture and society, HKBP aims to create a new platform and create network not only in Japan but also overseas. Hiroshi Koike, who has created works in 10 countries and has performed in 40 countries, has been asking the way of symbiosis and harmony beyond nation and culture. He produces a stage that shows performance beyond genre, country and era. This is what Super Theater is.

Comments of expectation from many celebrities!

Alex Kerr, a writer and Japanologist

Koike took something ancient and made it feel very modern. I saw his Mahabahrata in Bangkok and it will likely be another thirty years, or maybe much more, before anyone is able to supersede Koike’s Mahabharata. Meanwhile he said his new production 2030 WORLD DRIFTING will be more fascinating one. I'm looking forward to seeing it and wish him success.

Kaiji Moriyama, a dancer and coreographer

I saw Koike's previous work WORLD CONFERENCE. The performer's bodies which seemed that the soul of the historical person possessed was dancing impatiently while being hit by the strong wind and occasionally bate their breath. We cannot be at Koike's stage unless your body can firmly root in the earth. Performers cannot fit Koike's work unless they have the strength to suck up water from the ground and the eyes that can gaze at the "present sharply. Yhe bodies of each different backround gathers on the stage. That will be the world conference itself. I admire his ability to produce performing arts that no one has seen while focusing on the problems that we are facing now. It is said that Koike's unique point of view will focus on refugee problem in the new production WORLD DRIFTING. We cannot miss it.
